No large scale celebration is complete without the culminating high point; Pyrotechnics or Fireworks as they are commonly called. The end of Commonwealth Games or the Olympics or any event such as the Expo or a cultural or religious celebration where the host wants to show how well they have organized the occasion with finesse and grace, ends with a sophisticated display of fireworks.
The large scale fireworks display is usually carried out by professionals and is at the very end of the program. It is the high point of the event as the host would like to end the event on a note of joyous celebration. The entire fireworks display is not more than 15 minutes in duration but it casts a magic spell on the audience and lifts the spirits of the onlookers.
As more and more dazzling and breathtaking effects are being added, the entire show is nothing less than spectacular. For public fireworks display visual and non noisy fireworks are used that are mostly aerial. Letters and numbers can spell out the occasion and the date right across the night sky. Showers of colors and lights with effects that make the whole show something out of the world against the dark background of entire night sky makes you feel as though you are in fairyland.
Many times non fire producing items are also included in fireworks. These are also visually very pleasing. Flying Chinese lanterns are some of these and have been used for many centuries in China during festive times. These also make a wonderful personal display for your loved one. Confetti cannons are another non fire and smoke producing item that is used during a fireworks show where non inflammable confetti is packed in a cannon ball which is dispersed from a height on the spectators below. Personally, I love these non noisy fireworks. Both the Flying Chinese Lantern which fly for about 15 to 20 minutes and the confetti cannons are my personal favorites.
Fireworks have been with us for a long, long time, originating in China in the 7th Century. Even today, China not only engages in fantastic fireworks displays during the Spring and Autumn Festivals but also gives the world a taste of its creation by being the largest exporter of fireworks in the world.
As long as care is taken to make a fireworks display safe, it is one of the best and cheapest ways to entertain a large gathering of spectators for a spectacular quarter of an hour!
